People, Power, Policy and Place
Participants enjoyed a thought provoking conference last Friday with 3 fantastic speakers and a range of challenging workshops. The speakers presentations are now available below and the notes from the workshops plus evaluation feedback will be posted shortly.
The afternoon 'quiz' Community Challenge session hosted by YCAN produced a huge number of ideas and solutions in response to the questions posed. All of them will also be posted on the YCAN website in the next few days

- Youth work– a means of empowering young citizens or social control?
- Social & political education– can it raise collective consciousness or just induce passivity?
- Resident involvement: Radical governance or customer care? – Is there an active grassroots movement or has it gone to seed?
- Community Development and Community Organising – which approaches are rooted in the past and which can offer a real challenge for people addressing inequalities and social justice?
